Guided tours of the Plan de Rome
Guided tours at the University of Caen Normandy
The tours are mainly offered in French. Booking in advance is required.
Each tour includes a presentation of the plaster model created by Paul Bigot, followed by a presentation of the interactive virtual model: both models reproduce Rome in the 4th century CE.

Free independent tour of the Plan de Rome model
⚠️ Self-guided tours are only allowed for small groups. The model is located inside the research facilities: silence is required. ⚠️
The model is freely accessible during the opening hours of the MRSH (Maison de la Recherche en Science Humaines – Research Centre in Human Sciences), Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 M, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
From Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, the model is automatically lit. Outside of these hours, a switch allows visitors to illuminate the model as needed.
Annual closure: last week of July, the first two weeks of August; and Christmas holidays.
